The Detection of Economically Motivated Adulteration in the Herb and Spice Industry

In this study, NeoSpectra spectrometer is used to detect adulterants in spices . A comparison was carried out between three methods and it was observed that the NeoSpectra solution is comparable in terms of performance with the benchtop NIR.

All methods had a correct classification rate of >90 % for authentic black pepper and 100 % correct classification for 20 90 % level.
