Description

Ensiled hay (haylage) is alfalfa, clover, grass, or mixtures, harvested in the range of 30-70% moisture and preserved through ensiling. This includes bales of hay ensiled in individually wrapped bales (baleage). Intended for: Legume, grass, and mixed haylage Mechanically harvested with theoretical length of cut less than 1 inch or baleage sampled with a core sampler In the range of 30-70% moisture Natural fermented or enhanced with bacterial inoculants Scanned using the NeoSpectra rotator Not intended for: Scissor cut samples from standing crop Particle sizes longer than 1 inch Moisture less than 20 or greater than 70% Haylage with additional ingredients including urea or molasses

Instructions

  • Subscribe to DairyLand ensiled hay model on LabStore
  • Install Scanner in portable rotator and connect it to Scan app
  • Place the background reference in the cup and take a background scan by pressing the calibrate button
  • Place the sample inside the cup and distribute it in an equal manner to cover all the cup surface
  • Put the cover on the cup to make sure that the sample is well pressed against the cup bottom surface
  • Put the cup in the rotator head
  • Press scan in the scan app and follow the procedure
